Electronics Lab Technician

Swansea, 25,000 – 35,000 depending on experience

Yolk Recruitment is exclusively managing a new opportunity to join a n award winning business designing and manufacturing specialist electronic products as an Electronics Lab Technician. You'd take a lead role in overseeing an electronics R&D test laboratory, supporting the development and improvement of electronic products with hands on involvement in prototyping, testing and validation.

This is what you'll be doing

Building, modifying, and repairing PCB assembliesHand–soldering through–hole and surface–mount componentsDesoldering and re–soldering components on existing products for testing and reworkOperating pick–and–place and reflow equipment for prototype buildsFollowing safe working practices, including ESD control and capacitor dischargeSupporting EMC, ESD and emissions testingWriting simple test records and validation notesAssisting with component approval and ECN processesHelping to maintain lab equipment, calibration records and component stockThe experience you'll bring

Hands–on electronics experience – confident soldering and reworking fine–pitch componentsAbility to read and understand circuit schematicsComfortable using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimetersOrganised, accurate, and methodical in your workA background in electronics gained through education or experienceUnderstanding of basic safety in electronics – ESD, capacitor discharge, and safe handlingAwareness of testing or validation processesInterest in learning about EMC testing and wider product validationCoding or embedded software experience is useful, but not essentialDesirable:

IPC certification or similar trainingHND or degree in Electronics, Software, or a related disciplineWhat you'll get in return
